Norwegian guitarrist wins XXIV edition of Andrs Segovia competition |

Otto Tolonen, from Norway, gained the first place prize of the prestigious Andrés Segovia classic guitar competition held in La Herradura during November. The young guitarrist won a prize of 9000 Euros, together with a new guitar hand made by famous artisan Paco Santiago Marín and valued at some 8,000 Euros. The 28 year old Norwegian was also awarded the Leo Brouwer prize of 700 Euros for his outstanding interpretation of the work ’Homenaje a Frank Martín’ during round 2 of the competition. Second place was achieved by Spanish guitarrist Paola Requena and Cuban musician Alí Jorge Arango Marcano gained third place.
For the final round of the competition, the guitarrists were accompanied by the Andrés Segovia Orchestra, directed by Miguel Quirós and receiving a resounding ovation from the audience within the Centro Civico of La Herradura.
