Almuñécar underground car parks ready summer 2009 |

A new building company has taken over the ‘moats’ which currently lie with stagnant water along San Cristóbal and Velilla beach fronts within Almuñécar . And the promise to Mayor Benavides, communicated with the public, is to have these long.-standing public works completed in time for the town’s peak tourist season. After more than 12 months without a ‘paseo’ at either end of the town and now at least four months in an abandoned state, it seems there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.
New agreement with building company
Cartuja Inmobiliaria (part of the San José group) has agreed to take over the project and complete it by next summer. Interestingly, Benavides has pointed out that the construction company is “de alta solvencia”, a curious turn of phrase in Spanish, since it means both solvent and reliable – obviously two qualities that are becoming increasingly difficult to find in Almuñécar and elsewhere throughout the Costa Tropical, Spain and indeed, Europe!
