Mayor seeks help to eliminate goat path through Salobreña |
Thursday, 04 June 2009 |
You can clearly see when the goats have moved through the town, with a brown carpet of excrement and destruction left behind. Apart from the mess and the damage to plants and trees, the authorities are very concerned about the faeces which are left to smell and spread about the streets and plazas. However, the goatherder and a number of country-folk supporters are proving resistant to this tradition.
Salobreña Town Hall offers 2000 Euros
The municipal council wants an immediate solution to this health risk, offering 2000 Euros towards the substantial fine that the goatherder has already ‘earned’ for the privilege of moving his 1500 goats through the town to date. In desperation, the mayor has called on support from central government so that at least from a health perspective, a solution might be reached.
