Pensioners in Lobres demand better Day Centre |
Wednesday, 10 December 2008 |
“Is it too much to ask for a decent meeting place without stairs?” ask the pensioners in Lobres. Just to get to the toilet, they currently need to negotiate some 20 stairs within the Casa de la Cultura where art classes are being held to keep this active group even more active.
No tv or heating, plus sub-standard hygiene
It’s not just their prostates which are causing the pensioners problems, but this club has complained about the lack of suitable facilities, whilst the plans for a new centre are paralysed until further notice. Some twenty pensioners sent an official letter of complaint to the Salobreña Town Hall, asking for a location with improved services until funds can be sourced to complete the official Pension Club premises. Meanwhile, the group persists with their classes and their own project of completing floats for the upcoming Three Kings celebration on January 5th.
