The main road up to Faraguit, which since 2005ish has been absolutely transformed for the better, leads you straight to the very friendly bar - Parada. Here you meet Spanish people going about their everyday business, 'unos extranjeros' (some foreigners) and walkers from Granada.
The village almost splits itself into two parts. The upper part tends to be more modern buildings - homes or workplaces - and the lower part tends to be more of what a visitor to Spain would expect of a village on a Spanish hillside. The steps behind the Parada Bar lead you to narrow streets where narrow white homes and Spanish charm await.
On our numerous walks from the bar to our house, which is situated at the far end of the village, we are constantly met with 'Hola' and 'Adios' from the local residents. Although we are most definitely 'extranjeros' ourselves we are always made to feel welcome in Faraguit.
The views from almost everywhere in the village are superb. The hillside opposite changes colour from day to day and 'El Castillo' that stands guard on top, reminds us all of days gone by.
Guajar Faraguit couldn't be described as a 'Show Village' and that is its main quality. The narrow streets are used daily by the bread man, the fish man and the bin man. The houses are lived in and the people are Spanish. It is a real Spanish village.
