Hi there, Good for you for making the decision to move to Spain. I lived in Almunecar on the
Costa Tropical between 2005 and 2008, and only returned to the UK due to family commitments. I loved it out there, and now I'm planning to try and find a way of earning money in euros so I can return to live there permanently.
You should be able to live on 1000 a month quite easily out there if you don't have a mortgage or rent to pay, but there is very little work available, which is why many ex-pats are now returning to the UK. The weather and lifestyle are great, but
Granada is one of the poorest provinces in Spain, and basically most of the income earned there is from agriculture and tourism, which has been hit by the current state of the euro.
The few ex-pats I know who are making a living out there are doing so on internet, using skills and contacts they made before they arrived.
Good luck with your plans.
Jane
