Costa Tropical Internet

Hi, My husband and I are going to be moving to Spain - we are both Brits whio have been living in Queensland Australia for the last nine years. We are thinking of the Salobrena area on the Costa Tropical. Can anyone help with any information re: house prices etc..... I have been searching the internet, but wonder if the prices I see are realistic, or whether the Spanish property advertised is over priced? Are the prices still going down? Any truthful info regarding living on thre Costa Tropical would be most welcome. We are quite concerned whether we will have enough to survive on - I gather that it will be difficult to find part-time work. We will have to survice on approx 2000 Euros per month. Is this likely to sustain us? We will be expecting to rent for the first 6 months, whilst we look for a property to buy. I look forward to hearing any comments from anyone. Many thanks

hi we have been out to the costa tropical this week and just got back, yes 2000 euros should be fine we have neen looking in the the La Rabita nd Albonal area and may have found a property for us prices are very reasonable compared to the uk we are looking to live on 900 euros with no rent though as we are buying with no mortgage and have been told very possible if not going to mad

Hi there, Good for you for making the decision to move to Spain. I lived in Almunecar on the Costa Tropical between 2005 and 2008, and only returned to the UK due to family commitments. I loved it out there, and now I'm planning to try and find a way of earning money in euros so I can return to live there permanently.

You should be able to live on 1000 a month quite easily out there if you don't have a mortgage or rent to pay, but there is very little work available, which is why many ex-pats are now returning to the UK. The weather and lifestyle are great, but Granada is one of the poorest provinces in Spain, and basically most of the income earned there is from agriculture and tourism, which has been hit by the current state of the euro.

The few ex-pats I know who are making a living out there are doing so on internet, using skills and contacts they made before they arrived.
